Twenty gestures,
one ancient science

In Ayurveda, the hand is a map of the body — each finger a channel for the five elements. A mudra is a precise seal formed by the fingers that redirects your own prana, or life energy, toward a specific organ or emotion. No equipment, no side effects — just fifteen quiet minutes and the right shape.

"The hand is the instrument of the mind" — an ancient seal, practised daily, still finds the body's balance.

Why the shape
of your hand matters

Ayurvedic tradition holds that the five fingers correspond to the five elements — thumb for fire, index for air, middle for space, ring for earth, and little finger for water. When two fingertips meet, a subtle circuit closes, gently altering the balance of these elements within the body.

Our therapists at Anzee Ayurveda use mudra practice alongside Panchakarma, diet counselling and daily-routine (Dinacharya) guidance — as a gentle, self-administered layer of care you can continue at home between visits. Explore the twenty mudras below, grouped by what they support, and find the shape your body is asking for today.

The Ritual

How to hold a mudra correctly

The gesture matters, but the sitting matters just as much. Follow these three steps for every mudra above to get the full benefit of your fifteen minutes.

01

Sit and settle

Sit cross-legged or upright in a chair, spine long and shoulders relaxed. Rest your hands on your knees, palms facing up.

02

Form the seal

Shape the mudra gently — there should be no strain in the fingers. A light, steady touch is enough to close the energy circuit.

03

Breathe and hold

Breathe slowly through the nose and hold the mudra for 15 minutes, ideally at the same time each day for at least 40 days.
